By installing this Photovoltaic-Diesel-Hybrid System Sorwathe becomes a first mover in innovative clean energy production in Rwanda. Using a smart controller the solar energy generated decreases the electricity consumption from the public grid, as well as diesel fuel consumption when there are outages. This way the electricity and diesel cost for the factory along with the carbon emissions can be reduced significantly.
The illustration above shows the electricity system of the tea factory after the addition of the photovoltaic plant on the roof. The hybrid controller ensures that as much solar energy as possible can be used. At the same time it guarantees the safe operation of the diesel generators.
